Maintenance Kits

Spare Drums/Imaging Units

Imaging units are subassemblies in laser printers that contain the drum, laser, and toner cartridge. These units can be entirely replaced, typically when the laser fails, or you can independently replace the drum and toner cartridge. Having an imaging unit on the shelf for your most important printers, copiers, and multifunction printers (MFPs) lets you get them back into operation quickly.

Drums are coated with a light-sensitive material. The laser striking this material “activates” it. Once activated, those portions attract the toner powder and transfer it to paper, creating the printed page. Having spare drums serves the same purpose as spare imaging units, allowing you to minimize critical equipment downtime.
